Yahaya Adoza Bello is a Nigerian politician and businessman, The fourth democratically elected Governor of Kogi State in 2016 and re-elected in Nov 2019.
Yahaya Adoza Bello was born on June 18, 1975 in Okene LGA, Kogi State as the youngest of six children. He was born to Late Alhaji Bello Ipemida Ochi and Hajiya Hawawu Oziohu.
In 1984, he attended the LGEA primary school, Agasa and in 1989 he proceeded to Agassa Community Secondary School, Anyava, Agassa-Okene and obtained his Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination (JSSCE) and Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) certificates from Government Secondary School, Suleja-Niger State in 1994.
The Okene born studied at Kaduna State Polytechnic Zaria in 1995 briefly and later proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University, Abu Zaria, where he studied Accounting and obtained a Bachelors degree (B.Sc) in 1999 and Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in 2002. In 2004, he became a Chartered Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN).
Yahaya Adoza Bello started as a Revenue Officer II at the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) in 2001. He began at the commission as a Youth Corp member and got retained due to his diligence. Shortly after, he became a Senior Accountant and got transferred to the Makurdi Zonal Office to head the Account Department. Later on, he became the Assistant Chief Accountant until he resigned.
Yahaya Adoza Bello knew he can't be a humanitarian by earning salary, after resignation from public service, he went into private business. As a business man, Yahaya Adoza Bello with a single 18-seater bus he procured through a bank loan, built one of Nigeria's most successful transport businesses, Fair Plus. Discovering that Bello was a faithful and prudent resourceful entrepreneur gave more bank facilities. With more facilities and with the introduction of modern business management into the business, Fair Plus rose to become a giant in the industry.
Applying his entrepreneurial skills, Governor Yahaya Bello mastered the art of informed stock trading and had a financial breakthrough right before the crash of the stock market. His stock portfolio investments cut across the oil and gas, finance, transportation, and agro related sectors. He then grew and expanded his real estate investments expanding into a number of states in the country. He currently funds three orphanage homes and sponsors hundreds of Kogi State undergraduates in various higher institutions both within and outside the country. His strong drive for community development inspired him to invest in various community projects.
Governor Yahaya Bello replaced Prince Abubakar Audu, who died November 22nd 2015, few days after leading the poll in an inconclusive gubernatorial election and won a second term in office in November 16, 2019 on the platform All Progressives Congress APC.
Ever since Yahaya Adoza became the Governor of Kogi State, the state has seen tremendous growth in socioeconomic and infrastructural development, something upheaval against the dilapidated economic structure of the state. With well planned out transformational agenda to take Kogi State from a supposed civil servant state to a buoyant industrialised state in the nearest future, Governor Yahaya Bello wasted no time in optimizing the state's limited resources to enhance her potentials for the attraction of both local and foreign public private investors.
Yahaya Adoza Bello has made big strides since the beginning of his life's journey. He is the incumbent Governor of Kogi State and APC flag bearer with his trusted friend and former chief of staff Edward Onoja as Deputy Governor for the coming 2019 gubernatorial election in November. Asides that Yahaya Bello brought in a large percentage of capable youths to his government and engaged others in state services, which has translated into the peace and security the state is enjoying today, Yahaya is also a true detribalised fellow and passionate reformer.
